    Terms

Any of these titles. Separate terms with commas.
Every profile has all of these.
At least one of these. Over the limit, the generator removes terms and names them.
Profiles with these words are left out.
Used in Google X-ray and GitHub X-ray. LinkedIn sets location with a filter.

    How it works

    1. Paste the job description

Open the side panel and paste the job description. AI finds the job titles, skills and exclusions in it. You can also fill the groups by hand.

    2. Check the terms

Terms from the job description and terms that AI suggests are shown apart. Keep the terms you need, change or remove the others.

    3. Pick the search

Pick LinkedIn search, LinkedIn Recruiter, Google X-ray or GitHub X-ray. The string uses the operators of that search. Google X-ray and GitHub X-ray strings stay within 32 words.

    4. Insert the string

Open LinkedIn or Google and click Insert into search box. The string goes into the search box. You start the search yourself.

    What the extension does

    • Four searches from one set of terms

You check the terms once. The extension writes a separate string for LinkedIn search, LinkedIn Recruiter, Google X-ray and GitHub X-ray.

    • Short string first

The short string has the job titles and up to three must-have skills. If it finds too many profiles, use the full string with all groups.

    • Length limits

Google reads only the first 32 words of a search. The extension counts the words and removes the least important terms first: nice-to-have skills for Google X-ray, job titles for GitHub X-ray. Then it tells you which terms it removed.

    • Recruiter fields

For LinkedIn Recruiter, the extension splits the string into job titles and keywords. Insert fills the Keywords field. You copy the titles and paste them into the Job titles field.

    • Words with a second meaning

Java, React or Snowflake can match profiles that use the word in another meaning. The extension warns you and suggests a context term, such as Spring for Java.

    • Library

Save a string with a name and tags. Find it by name or tag when you open the next role.

What recruiters complain about, and what we changed

We read recruiter discussions and store reviews of boolean tools. These are the common complaints and how the extension handles them.

    • AI writes strings that the search does not accept.

AI picks terms from the job description and shows its extra suggestions apart. The string itself comes from the fixed operator rules of each search.

    • One long string finds nothing on LinkedIn.

The extension starts with a short string and shows its length. Google X-ray and GitHub X-ray strings stay within 32 words.

    • AI search hides why a profile matched.

You see every term before you search. Suggested terms stay off until you add them.

    • Automation tools can get a LinkedIn account restricted.

The extension does not run searches, open profiles or read results. It puts the string into the search box after your click.

    • Some extensions do not open, or open and build no string.

Building by hand works without an internet connection. AI builds need our server.

    • Good strings get lost in notes and spreadsheets.

The library keeps your strings with names and tags in the browser.

    • The main function is behind a paywall.

Building by hand is free with no limit. Five AI builds a day are free. You need no account.

    Questions and answers

    Is Boolean Search Builder free?

Yes. Building strings by hand has no limit. Five AI builds from a job description are free every day. You need no account and no email.

Can LinkedIn restrict my account because of this extension?

The extension does not automate LinkedIn. It does not run searches, open profiles or read results. After your click, it puts the string into the search box. You start the search yourself.

Does it work with LinkedIn Recruiter?

The extension is built for LinkedIn Recruiter. Insert puts the keywords into the Keywords field. Copy the job titles from the panel and paste them into the Job titles field.

What does the extension send to your server?

When you click Build from description, the extension sends the job description and an anonymous install key to our server. Our server passes the description to an AI service for that one build and does not save it. The extension also sends usage events, such as a click on Insert. These events never include job descriptions, terms or strings.

Why does the Google X-ray string have a limit of 32 words?

Google reads only the first 32 words of a search and ignores the rest. A longer string gives results for a part of your terms, so the extension keeps the string within 32 words.

    Where are my saved strings?

In your browser. The extension does not send saved strings to our server.

Which pages can it insert into?

LinkedIn search, LinkedIn Recruiter and Google search. On other pages, copy the string and paste it yourself. The first time you click Insert, Chrome asks you to allow access to LinkedIn and Google.
